Sheffield Seniors succeeding again

The Yorkshire men’s 75+ County team are National Champions having recently beaten Kent in the play off in Southampton, a close match won eventually on sets. This was the only Summer County Cup Yorkshire age-related team of the fifteen entered (wo men and men 35+ to 75+) to become overall champions.
Local interest lies in the fact that Wilf Jessop (Capt.), Greg Pearson, Dave Allerton and John Andrews were selected throughout the season aided by Giles Hinchcliffe from Chapel Allerton. Warwickshire, Lancashire, Leicestershire, Surrey and Suffolk were beaten en route over the summer, the latter two both away matches on subsequent days with an overnight stay, some testament to the team’s fitness!
